POGO Alumnus:
NF-POGO Centre of Excellence 2011-2012
“I was selected as a scholar of the Nippon Foundation-POGO Centre of Excellence (NF-POGO CofE) in year of 2011-2012 (Year 4 POGO). Although eight years have already passed since my POGO training, when I think back on my research career I always appreciate how wonderful the POGO programme was.”
I was selected as a scholar of the Nippon Foundation-POGO Centre of Excellence (NF-POGO CofE) in year of 2011-2012 (Year 4 POGO). Although eight years have already passed since my POGO training, when I think back on my research career I always appreciate how wonderful the POGO programme was.
The POGO training programme has provided me with the integrated knowledge of oceanography. The best part was that I had the opportunity to learn from the world outstanding scientists. I still keep touch with the tutors who gave us the impressive courses. The POGO training program helped me reinforce my skills, closed my gaps of oceanography knowledge, and also offered me the ability to conduct new research. Most importantly, the training programme strengthened my confidence because I had a deeper understanding of my role and responsibilities to observe and study the ocean.
After the training, I kept doing research on oceanography. I got some research funds with an idea that I learned from the POGO training programme. This research fund brought me to a new start and helped me find a new research field. I pass on the knowledge what I learned from the training to the Chinese students and my colleagues. I teach the course of data management using the websites which professor Murray Brown created.
The POGO training is the best programme I have attended. It will be cherish memory in my mind forever.
