The biennial POGO-27 Science Meeting will take place from 22-26 February 2027, hosted by Invemar in Santa Marta, Colombia.
Further information and documents will be added as they become available.

In order to build on POGO’s core strength of inclusivity, in Sept 2024, the members voted to divide our Meetings into a more general and open “Science Meeting” (every 2 years), and a more focused, shorter “Directors’ Meeting” (every year, in combination with a major international event, or in a strategic location). It is anticipated that the outcomes of the Science Meeting will feed into the Directors’ Meeting, and vice versa.
The POGO-27 Science Meeting welcomes additional delegates from partner and non-member institutions, as well as scientists at different levels within POGO member institutions (i.e., not only the Director).
As POGO meetings are currently fully funded by the host institute and do not charge a registration fee, we will need to cap the number of delegates.
The registration process will consist of the following:
- a pre-registration, with a closing date of 17 July 2026
- a selection process and notification by the Secretariat of pre-registration approval by mid-August 2026
- a registration confirmation, with a closing date of 17 January 2027

- Biomolecular observations and eDNA
- Implementation of ocean sound EOV
- Environmentally sustainable ocean observing
- Blue carbon
- Marine heatwaves
- Ocean observations of contaminants
- Indigenous knowledge
