Gulf of Guinea Ocean Sciences Summer School (GGOSSS) – 2025

Regional capacity-building initiative designed to empower the next generation of ocean professionals across West and Central Africa

The Gulf of Guinea Ocean Sciences Summer School (GGOSSS), hosted at www.ggosss.org, was an ambitious regional capacity-building initiative designed to empower the next generation of ocean professionals across West and Central Africa.

The first edition took place from August 25–29, 2025, at the University of Dschang in Cameroon, and included a sea excursion in Kribi, a coastal city in Cameroon. This program directly aligns with the Partnership for Observation of the Global Ocean (POGO)’s Strategy in its commitment to advancing global ocean observations, promoting equity in ocean science capacity development, and fostering collaboration across institutions and regions.
